I’m really starting to worry that Kinja (sans Oppo and sometimes the FP) is way too toxic for me. It’d be one thing if it were out of sight, out of mind, but with cross-posts and the dreaded “ You may also like ,” you can’t help but see it. This place is infested with keyboard warriors who spend what seems like all day in the comments section spreading (apparently righteous) hateful, volatile, and oh yes, ignorant shit. And then you see this, and it makes you wonder why you’re here.

I said this previously, but the problem with “Kinja” is that Univision kept all of the Gawker writers on the payroll. Gawker lives on as Gizmodo and The Concourse, with the same pettiness and bossy, arrogant editorial tone.

but this political cycle has sadly made the whole country toxic. there was a blow-up at TTAC two days ago which led to one of their authors leaving.

Ted Cruz was so far the worst that he’s now kinda the best. That was such a perfect response to Deadspin (while also murdering Grayson Allen) that they should have just accepted it, but they’re such a smarmy group of liberal cocks that they won’t even laugh at a good joke by a guy like Cruz.

I am a registered Democrat, but most of the posts and comments on the other blogs seem, honestly, like people are just being sore fucking losers. So sore, in fact, that they come here, to the Internet, to start political circle jerks day after day after day. Worryingly, I’ve seen some comments explicitly inciting violence garner 100+ stars. That’s out of hand. And even the “good” stories that get published (reluctantly, I’m sure) end up getting twisted to fit people’s social justice agenda.

I’m all for rich Trump supporters to throw around money while desperately telling everyone they meet that they’re not racist. I get the impulse, and the $450 is crazy generous. But saying the equivalent of, “Oh, you’re one of the good ones. Here’s some money.” still seems off putting.

Why is that necessary to say? So that the thousands of other entirely like-minded commenters can see what you have to say and note how goddamn woke you are for making the point?

Everyone has the right to be offended by everything. Apparently, even when a Busboys and Poets waitress, probably making her way on tips alone, is given a $450 tip by men who may have been there to watch the Inauguration and may have been Trump supporters. The truth is that these people probably have no close contact with anyone who did support Trump in the election, making their worldview all the more twisted.

I know that I posted this same quote yesterday, but it’s so applicable that it hurts. “Just because you’re offended doesn’t mean you’re right.”

that’s the shitty part. not only are people being sore losers, Trump supporters (some at least) are being sore winners. It’s like they feel the need to grind people’s faces into it. kind of like a couple of grade-schoolers fighting. The bigger kid has you down on the ground, and is still pounding you with his knee in your back. I mean, I was at the gym last night and the TV had CNN on; they were discussing how the Orange Bezoar is still complaining about “millions of illegitimate votes.” Does he really want to contest this election? We don’t have a mechanism for do-overs (as far as I know) but if we did he definitely wouldn’t want one.
